Waterbeach’s thriving community market is relocating to The Studio at Waterbeach Barracks.

The stalls at the community market will include a bakery, fishmonger, butcher, cheesemonger, craft beer from local microbreweries, vintage clothes, pet food and accessories, cards, jewellery and gifts. The popular community market will be back at The Studio on 19 December, with a chance to buy last minute gifts and collect pre-ordered Christmas food, and then on the third Sunday of each month in 2022.

Gaynor Clarke, owner of Pretty Pieces vintage store and co-founder of the community market, said: “The Waterbeach community market has gone from strength to strength since I set it up with Wayne Love, owner of Fenland Fox pet food. We started with about eight stalls two years ago and have more than treble that now. The market has proved incredibly popular with local residents coming back each month to sample the variety of wares on display and support local businesses.

“We’re delighted that Urban&Civic has made The Studio available for the market and we are discussing the potential for additional space at the former Barracks in the New Year.”

Rebecca Britton, Communities and Partnerships for Urban&Civic, said: “We are delighted to be able to support this great community initiative. It has been lovely to see this local event grow both in the variety of stall holders and the people it attracts, and the way it has connected local produce and talent with customers on their doorstep. We are looking forward to continued working with Gaynor, Wayne and the team to see how Waterbeach Community Market can continue to grow as the development rolls out.”

Local businesses interested in joining the Waterbeach community market can find out more and be added to the waiting list via the Facebook page: WaterbeachCommunityMKT

Gaynor added: “We’re a small but enthusiastic team of volunteers running the community market and I’d like to say a special thank you to Alison from Utility Warehouse who helps us organise the stalls and Edward Deacon who ferries me around putting signage up in the area. Edward will be running a stall raising money for Arthur Rank Hospice selling Winter Punch and mince pies, and we hope shoppers will help support this local charity.”
